2013 Summer Camp Schedule
Mentor Summer Kids’ Cooking Classes Ages 6-12.
Mentor classes are held at Wildwood Center at 7645 Little Mountain Road. Unless otherwise noted all Mentor classes are held on Tuesdays. You can register online at CityofMentor.com/play or by phone at 440 974 5720 from Cleveland call 440 942 8796.
Classes in Mentor sell out quickly. Please be sure to ask to go on the waiting list if the class you want to attend is full. We do get openings and if there are enough people on the waiting list we can always schedule an additional session. Cost to residents is $14, non-resident fee is $17. That does not include the food fee paid to me the day of the class. Kid’s classes are from 1-3 pm. You can sign your child up for one or for all of them.
Classes are
July 8: Piece of Pizza: Here is a chance for your child to get hands on experience making pizza from scratch including a tasty crust and terrific toppings. Your child will also get instruction on making Mexican pizza, pizza bagels and more. There will plenty to taste in class and recipes for home. Food Fee $6.00.
July 9: Cooking with Tortillas: They are one of the most versatile foods around yet many of us only use tortillas in Mexican cooking. In this class your child will get to make pizzas, roll-ups and even blintzes out of tortillas. There will be plenty of hands-on fun in class and recipes to take home. Food Fee $6.00.
July 10: Sandwiches: They’re easy to make and fun to eat. Sandwiches are a cornerstone of many American diets. They are also an excellent place for children to start learning about cooking. In class we’ll make some familiar and some unusual sandwiches. Your child will get to make and taste several different sandwiches and will take home recipes for many more. Food Fee $6.00
July 11: Cookie Baking : This hands-on class is an introduction to cookie baking for your child. From rolled cookies to no-bake treats your child will get a chance to make several different types of cookies and will have both goodies and recipes to take home. Food Fee $6.00.
July 15 : Cooking Breakfast : Since it is the most important meal of the day, shouldn’t we know, at an early age, how to make it? In class your child will learn to make many common breakfast foods, and some uncommon ones as well. There will be hands on learning, dishes to sample and plenty of recipes to take home. Who knows? You might even get breakfast in bed! Food Fee $6.00
July 16: Easy Snacks: Everybody likes to snack, but we worry about what our children are snacking on. In this class children will get hands on experience making tasty and good for you snacks. They will also bring extras home for you to sample along with recipes. Food Fee $6.00.
July 17: Play With Your Food: This class is about creativity and imagination. It is also about having fun. In class your child will learn to make foods that are mini craft projects, a little odd, but still tasty. From marshmallow bunnies to kitty litter cake (don’t ask) your child will have a hands on experience that makes cooking really fun. Food Fee $6.00.
July 18: Ice Cream, You Scream: This class will give your child a chance to make all sorts of frozen treats. From ice cream and sorbets to ice cream sandwiches and sundae sauces we will do them all You will certainly enjoy the recipes they bring home and they will love the frosty treats they make in class. Food Fee $6.00
Beachwood Recreation
Cooking classes for Beachwood Recreation are held at the Beachwood Middle School in the home ec room. The School is located on Richmond Road behind the library. You can register by calling 216 292 1970.
Kids’ Cooking Camps
Allow the budding chef in your household the chance to be immersed in the world of cooking. From breakfast to dessert your junior Cat Cora or Michael Symon will get plenty of hands on experience in the kitchen with food to bring home and share with family. Food and materials fee $50.00, lunch included daily.
